Venue Requirements

To ensure a high-quality experience for teachers, students, and retreat guests, all venues listed on SpaceMe must meet a set of baseline requirements. In addition, we highlight a series of ideal features that help a venue stand out and increase booking potential.

These are the minimum standards a venue must meet to be listed on SpaceMe.

1. Practice Space

A dedicated indoor or outdoor area suitable for yoga, meditation, or movement sessions, with:

  • Enough space for your maximum guest capacity, allowing all participants to practice comfortably
    (e.g., 10 guests = space for 10 mats with room to move)
  • A clean, flat, unobstructed floor
  • Safe, quiet environment for practice
2. Essential Equipment

Venues must provide:

  • One yoga mat per guest (e.g., 10 guests = 10 mats)
  • Two yoga blocks per guest (e.g., 10 guests = 20 blocks)
  • At least 10 yoga straps (or one per participant for full occupancy)
  • Clean, well-maintained equipment
3. Accommodation
  • Clean and comfortable rooms (single, shared, or mixed)
  • Good quality bedding
  • Adequate bathrooms (private or shared) for the number of guests
  • Safe, maintained infrastructure
4. Amenities
  • Dining area suitable for groups
  • Drinking water access
  • Reliable Wi-Fi in common spaces
  • Electricity and lighting
  • Safe storage for guests
5. Basic Safety
  • First aid kit
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Clear pathways and safe access around the property
  • Emergency contact numbers available for guests
6. Availability & Pricing
  • Clear availability calendar
  • Transparent pricing for accommodation and additional services

Defined cancellation and house rules

These are features that greatly enhance the retreat experience and make a venue highly attractive to teachers and organisers.

  • High-quality flooring (wood, bamboo, smooth tile)
  • Sound system or ability to connect music
  • Storage area for props
2. Extra Equipment (Optional But Valued)
  • Bolsters
  • Blankets
  • Meditation cushions
  • Additional props for restorative practices
  • Whiteboard, flip chart, or projector for teacher trainings
3. Accommodation Enhancements
  • Multiple room types (single/twin/shared)
  • En-suite bathrooms
  • Blackout curtains
  • Air-conditioning or heaters
  • Private balconies or terraces
  • Daily cleaning service
4. Wellness & Community Spaces
  • Lounge or relaxation areas

5. Food & Dining
  • Retreat-friendly catering (vegan/vegetarian options)
